    A few decades ago, social scientists believed that only people who were "rigid, repressed, and authoritarian" had stereotypes (Paul 18). However, according to several recent studies, stereotypes are unconsciously used by everyone around the world. Annie Murphy Paul proposes that stereotypes are formed because people classify others into certain groups in terms of gender, age, and race and then evaluate them according to an in-group/out-group dynamic, meaning that the people despise them. who are not part of their group in order to rise. Besides obvious differences between humans, such as gender, Forster, Gerger, and Leder (2013) propose that trivial factors like facial expressions also influence stereotypes and contribute to people's evaluations of others. Unconscious categorization and evaluation have strongly influenced Chinese people's attitudes toward Northeastern Chinese. A widely held stereotype among Southern Chinese depicts Northeastern Chinese as difficult to manage, short-tempered, and violent. This example supports experts' ideas that people unconsciously carry stereotypes, categorize and evaluate others in terms of groups, and judge people based on their facial appearance. Additionally, the example suggests that people also categorize others based on regional differences and evaluate others based on their physique.
