    It upsets me that all the blame was placed on my grandmother and never on my grandfather because he was the man of the house. When I was younger, I always wondered why my grandmother never left my grandfather, but when I talked to her about what she went through, she told me that she never couldn't leave because she had no way to support herself and all her children. I also felt sad about the way my family treated other people from different tribes than us. Before moving to New York, I had no contact or knowledge of the LBGT community. I now have a better understanding of who the LGBT community is, but I'm still learning. It is sad that some family members still believe and feel what they think. I learned that I must accept and respect all the different cultures that I come from
