The transition from high school to college is considered one of the most difficult transitions in a student's education. This change inspired many books based on the idea of ​​"how to survive the first year of college." For example, in the book 1001 Things Every Student Needs to Know, famous writer Harry H. Harrison Jr. states, "You need to know what you're signing up for: constant studying, tough exams, the pressure to succeed, the organization of your time. , prioritizing your work, meeting expectations, and acting like an adult. (Harrison 15). Everything Harrison says is true. The transition between high school and college is extremely difficult due to the fact that the student is alone. In order to overcome this problem, many colleges offer survival classes and events such as orientations that help overcome these problems. For example, Duquesne University, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, offers courses for new students. These courses teach students techniques to survive the massive workload and stress. Although most colleges help students transition from high school to college, high schools don't offer as much help. Often students feel unprepared for college due to the lack of support provided by the high school. Although most universities do a decent job of facilitating student transfer, high schools can also do a better job of helping them. In order to solve this problem, high schools should encourage students to take AP courses in high school to help students take courses that will help them prepare for the middle exam...which they cannot TO DO. he.
