Technology is the ultimate tool for finding almost anything that interests you. Technology can be used as a great tool to learn new things, but at the same time, it can be used in a negative way. In both stories “The Veldt” and “In Another Country”, technology is used in the sense of making life much worse. The authors of both short stories use technology to show that it is harmful to society because it prevents society from being together. In the story “The Veldt”, the author Bradbury shows that technology has made people dependent on it. Kids these days use iPads, iPhones, and other types of technology to constantly check social media or text their friends. This causes children these days to become more dependent on technology and cannot live a single second without it. This is a problem because Bradbury tells us that technology has taken over the way people behave negatively in society. He tells us that this affects young people and adults in their everyday lives. In this short story, George says: “We've been thinking about our mechanical and electronic belly buttons for too long. My God, how we need an honest breath of air” (Bradbury 9). George, in this quote, emphasizes that we humans have been too attached to technology; where it changed us in the way we act. He tries to explain that people do not spend enough time on an interesting activity, but use that time to use their phone or computer. George tries to argue that life is about having many adventures while technology only focuses on one aspect of life. Additionally, technology is changing the way young people interact with others. “The Veldt” tries... middle of paper ...... hurt the person. Additionally, the separation shows how deeply upset the major is by what happened. Technology can help repair a physical injury, but it will never repair an emotional scar. The major now believes that technology poses even more problems where it plays a major role between life and death. Technology played the role of a wound that would remain in his heart for the rest of his life. Technology has played a major role in the way we act and the way we are. Technology, in the two short stories “The Veldt” and “In Another Country”, has shown us that it is not adapted to society. In these two stories, the authors showed how technology affects young people by separating them from their friends and family.
