Schools must frequently update their codes of conduct to address cyberbullying circumstances that have led to legal action. A school can be held responsible in court for something that happened to a student due to constant cyberbullying if the problem is not addressed through some form of discipline. Schools could be sued for ignoring signs of constant cyber-harassment towards a student who ultimately commits suicide due to the incessant attacks. It is necessary for a school's code of conduct to incorporate new methods on how to handle cyberbullying situations for current and future measures. School districts did not intervene in off-campus student conflicts until parents began blaming schools when they did not take action to resolve the problems their children were having. To parents, it seemed that schools were allowing students to be subject to attacks when disciplinary action was not taken to combat cyberbullying. All of the offense tables for each form of cyberbullying are examples of sanctions that schools could use to reduce cyberbullying among students. The online article goes on to explain: “With constant access to social media and the internet, victims often feel like there is no escape. Cyberbullying (cyberharassment) should in no case be considered a small situation. Bullying can start with one person, then everyone can join in and make the victim's desire to go to school lessen. Schools must enforce codes of conduct in every district to reduce the number of instances of cyberbullying that lead to tragedies like suicides. Codes of conduct within school districts should be revised and detailed to fully explain how each instance of cyberbullying will be handled in accordance with the school.
