Essay / Comparison between Emily Dickinson and Robert Frost - 1028
Emily Dickinson and Robert Frost both think that individuality is very important for a person like Ralph Emerson. Although they have much in common, these poets are different in many ways. Frost and Dickinson were both American poets and both from New England. A big similarity between Frost and Dickinson both talk about death. Both Emily Dickinson and Robert Frost speak of the power of nature in their poetry. Frost and Dickinson have reasonable evidence for why human beings should live their lives according to their own goals, but what if that person can't stop living someone else's dreams? How can these poems help people break away from society and become a strong, confident individual? Both Dickinson and Frost show an example, for example, in Emily Dickinson's poem "I am nobody! Who are you?" Shows that she is enthusiastic about being herself and not letting society change her mind. She says "How sad – to be – Someone! How public – like a frog – to say one's name – the month of June (lines 3-5). " Dickinson's point is that It's better to be someone than a person. Plus, she thinks being a celebrity would be sad. When you're always in the public eye, you'll tend to get lost in the process. People who want to be someone are show-offs. Not only that, but they are not true to themselves. “Dickinson's poems about individuality sometimes communicate an intoxicating sense of power and autonomy of the self, on his own, without need or dependence (Howard 138). » Additionally, the exclamation point expresses the confidence she has in being a nobody. Not only does Dickinson embrace individuality, but so does Robert Frost. In "The Road Not Taken", Frost makes a decision about which route to take. As the eminent philosopher Frost said "And sorry, I couldn't travel both and be one traveler, I stood a long time and looked as far as I could at one." as I might (line 5-7)". In this poem he often says "I". The I shows that Frost does not know which path to take. Either it is the path less traveled or the path more traveled. He takes his decision seriously. In Dickinson, I'm Nobody, Who Are You? shows that she is proud of being nobody and not being in the "crowd". : “Are you – Nobody – too? So there are two of us Don’t say it! They would advertise – you know” She found a person like her and is excited about the idea. to be in a relationship with anyone too. I also see that she is a little afraid of the power of society over people For example, celebrities Kim Kardashian and Nicki Manji and two people who have influenced the body standards of girls in. Today's world have undergone plastic surgery to gain more fame and because of this, many other women do the same because they think their body is not up to the standards of. the company. Once you give in to society, you will no longer recognize yourself. Emily Dickinson complicates matters further when she writes “How public – like a frog – (line 6). " In other words, Dickinson thinks she would be on display and like everyone else, as a frog, they would all look and sound the same. Meanwhile, Frost isn't sure he's not following the crowd. In “The Road Not Taken,” Frost chooses between two roads. One route is more popular and the other is not. While he was on the road, he started to get confused about which one to take.
