America has gone through many difficult times throughout its history. One of these eras is known as the McCarthy era. In the early 1950s, “witch hunts” took place against suspected communists. It was enough to be suspected of communism to be accused. Years later, when disease wiped out his herd, McCarthy began working as a grocery store clerk. He quickly became a manager; he decided to return to school. Joseph completed the four-year program at Little Wolf High School in just nine months. Accepted thanks to his good grades, Marquette University began his career in law. Joseph graduated as president of his class in 1935 and established his own law firm in Waupaca.
