Essay / Persuasive Essay on the Death Penalty - 1318
25 countries, besides the United States, have carried out executions. More than 1,500 different executions took place in 2015. The largest number of executions took place in China, Pakistan and Iran. China has more than 1,000 murders, Iran more than 950 murders, and Iran more than 300 executions in 2015. America ranks 5th in the world in terms of executions per year. The American death penalty can sow fear in other countries, it teaches them that the crimes they commit must not be tolerated. Pain and suffering is the best way to teach someone a lesson. If someone is sentenced to life in prison, they will not care about their actions and the consequences. This would make an act out of character and do things out of the norm. The death penalty could be a way to teach a lesson to those who think they cannot be defeated. However, America has some lenient government rules and guidelines. The United States of America is an ideal tourist destination for individuals from all over the world. Citizens are living what some would call the “American Dream” that people in other countries are dying to have. The death penalty should be abolished and banned in the United States of America because it turns other people from different countries away from America. The death penalty falsely accuses people of crimes; it also puts innocent people in danger.
