Managed Care OrganizationA managed care organization is a collection of clinics, doctors, hospitals, pharmacies, and other health care providers that come together to provide care health to people who register for services. In many cases, managed care organizations operate and are called healthcare provider networks. Managed care organizations are made up of healthcare experts from different fields who enter into an agreement to offer healthcare services to their members. Once a member enrolls, all of their healthcare needs are covered by the managed care organizations. Access to care outside the organization is restricted. Members of managed care organizations are typically assigned a primary care physician (PCP) who is the member's primary care provider. The PCP is responsible for analyzing a member's health problem before referring them to other sections of the managed care organization.
