Essay / Perspectives on Creative Leadership - 714
TheoryThis chapter includes theories, useful for this project, of leadership and creativity, imagination. Additionally, I try to discuss the perspectives of leadership and how people understand it. As a result, this method should help me answer the problem formulation. First of all, according to Matthew R. Fairholm (Fairholm, 2004), there are two different approaches to studying leadership. The first and most popular is the focus on the leader, which suggests that the best way to understand leadership is to study concrete individuals in a concrete situation. In addition, proponents of this method mainly focus on the qualities and behaviors of those who declare themselves to be or receive the title of leader. (Fairholm, 2004). In other words, in this approach, leadership is what leaders are or do, hence the sense of leadership acquired from the leader's work. Therefore, leaders define leadership. The second approach notes that when we study individual leaders, we cannot obtain a general understanding of leadership. “This approach rejects the idea that leadership is a sum of the qualities, behaviors or situational responses of individuals in positions of authority at the head of organizations. » (Fairholm, page 579, 2004). So, proponents of this approach agree that leadership is something bigger than the leader – they agree that leadership includes all of the ways in which we can define who a leader can be. Therefore, the meaning of “leader” or who can be a leader depends on the leadership techniques presented and not the position held. In this way we can say that above all we should pay attention to leadership as a job in which the leader must accept responsibility for bad decisions, take the initiative to change the situation, plan, organize the team... middle of paper......The fourth perspective – leadership in a culture of trust. This is somewhat similar to the third perspective, as it also focuses on the shared values between the leader and the follower, but the difference is that it is even more based on trust based on shared values. Therefore, it emphasizes on teams, mutual trust between leader and follower. The final perspective – whole-soul (spiritual) leadership. It also builds on the idea of maintaining a culture of trust and paying attention to the integral nature of our professional and personal lives. These spiritual leaders have the larger task of using their minds (soul, heart, etc.). Whole-soul leadership also involves the components of personal and professional life in an absolute system that promotes continued growth, development and personal leadership in this way where leaders see others as a whole person with many emotions , skills, knowledge, etc...
