Another issue that led to his decision was that the weight of the office was bearing down on him, and he felt it was time for him to step down from political life and allow someone else to accept the position. In his farewell address, Washington began his speech with a sense of humility and expressed his feeling that he was very grateful to those who placed him in this position, as well as those who stood by the decisions he made while trying to do everything right. choice to lead the country on the right path. Washington also had the humility to recognize that it could not have done anything without the support of citizens. He concluded this point by warning us of the danger that lurks in the future and he also told the American people that he had specific advice on how everyone should act and treat each other.
