Essay / Negative effects of sex offenders - 2260
Richard Tewksbury's research shows: "A large study of Uniform Crime Report trends in 15 states indicated that registration appears to have contributed to a reduction in sexual recidivism , but not notification to the communityā€¯ ( Tewksbury 612). In fact, society and government should strengthen and adjust the source of sex offenders rather than imposing the results that sex offenders have already recorded. Recorded information about sex offenders has more negative effects on the family of sex offenders than its functionality. Tewksbury's experience also showed that due to legal restrictions, when sex offenders choose housing, they must be far from school, daycare, amusement parks and other public places, at specified distances ranging from 500 to 2,500 feet (620 feet). As a result, much housing is unavailable for sex offenders. They have to move to a distant community and they will lose some of their loved ones. Sex offenders no longer live close to their families, the place is far from work and public transportation. This action increased the financial situation of registered sex offenders.
