  • Essay / Letter to the Teacher for On the Run by Michael Coleman

How are you? For my weekly twenty minute reading every five days a week, I read two excellent books. I finished my first book called On the Run by Michael Coleman. The second book was too long and maybe I should stop reading this one because it's a long, high level book for me. It's called The Alchemyst by Michael Scott. I read half of it. This book is about fifteen-year-old Luke Reid, who has been arrested for theft more times than he can remember. His crocheting skills always helped him. One day there was a pair of remarkable shoes in the 4X4 car, so he starts to easily pick the lock with which he succeeded. Just as he was about to collect the shoes, these neighborhood thugs, known as Lee Young and Mig Russell, passed him and took the car. As they left, they all killed the owner's daughter, without Luke she would have died. Luke is arrested and taken to juvenile court where he is given the most unusual sentence ever given to anyone. Luke must help the car owner's daughter, Jodi, who has been blind since childhood, by serving as her guide during an upcoming marathon. Does Luke take this chance to change or does he pass it up and run away breaking the heart of a poor girl who would rather die by him than be betrayed by him. Luke because he was thought of as a metaphor that surprised me and most readers. Was it good or bad to find out? The protagonist depends on the antagonist because the protagonist is a good person, a hero, the best, etc. To be a good person, a hero or the best, there must be others who will be against the protagonist. These characters are antagonistic. The protagonist notes most of the time without an antagonist. The antagonist is in sync with the protagonist because they are against them, so both are dependent on each other. The policeman who caught Luke was a tough man. He had to work hard to catch Luke. Time plays a very important role in this book. All if he was faster or had more time. Locations didn't matter as much. This could be changed if we thought about it a little and the story would still be the same..
