Essay / Storm Systems and Tornadoes: Tim Samaras - 637
A tornado is a moving vortex of violent and highly destructive rotating winds moving downwind. Tornadoes are simply very interesting, with all the sights and images of devastating tornadoes, they have aroused the curiosity of many people. Many experiments were conducted and many scientists worked around the clock to learn more about tornadoes. They are mainly found under large storm systems. Clouds in the systems sometimes turn into funnel clouds because of winds hitting the cloud, and then the cloud begins to twist. This is why tornadoes are topped by a huge cloud. A tornado is a moving vortex of violent and highly destructive rotating winds that moves with the wind. It is important to know about this topic because, as I mentioned, they greatly affect the world. If we didn't know them, we would have a much harder time determining where they are likely to be and preparing for a strong tornado during a big storm. If we didn't know them, we would have a much harder time knowing them. it's time to find out where they will perform. It is important to know about this topic because, as I mentioned, they greatly affect the world. They are likely to be and be prepared for a strong tornado during a major storm. I chose this topic because it has always been very interesting to me. . I was thinking about choosing Wind, but I felt like my project would turn out better if I focused more on a certain thing rather than a larger, open-ended project like Wind.Tri state...... middle of paper ... ...uprooting trees while killing animals, which is a devastating combination because if it's big enough it can destroy entire ecosystems. As you can imagine, it would be devastating to lose an entire ecosystem to a large enough tornado. They can also destroy man-made buildings, and while new things are developed to give us warning systems. We still cannot determine exactly when tornadoes will occur. As you can probably tell by now, tornadoes are very destructive. The warm, humid air meets the cold, dry air and they start twisting and chasing each other faster and faster each time until they twist the cloud enough until it hits the ground, causing a tornado. Tornadoes are measured on the Fujita scale. The Fujita scale bases wind speed on the amount of damage caused. The scale has grades based on Fs. An F0 has a wind speed of up to 72 mph while an F5 has wind speeds of over 300 mph..
