Cultural feminism vs post-colonized feminismBeing a feminist and having a feminist point of view in observing every cultural, social and historical issue translated into a feminine-centered view and anti-male perception. Contrary to general and common knowledge about feminism, it is not just an anti-masculine perception of social and individual problems. Feminism according to the Oxford Dictionary is the theory of political, economic and social equality of the sexes, more commonly known as the pursuit of equal rights for women. On the other hand, in the study of literary books as it will be in this article, the definition mentioned is not applicable. Therefore, in this article, feminist criticism will be used to study the lives of some characters in the novels “Like Water to Chocolate” and “The Season of Northern Migration”. According to the Oxford Dictionary, feminist criticism is a type of literary theory that highlights the different genders, races, classes, and religions depicted in literature and which will be used in this article. Furthermore, colonization also has different social and cultural effects on the colonized societies. In this article, the feminist aspect of post-colonization will be studied in the novel “Season of Migration to the North” by Tayeb Salih. Postcolonial feminism can be defined as seeking to assess how racism and the lasting economic, cultural, and political influences of colonialism affect non-white, non-Western women in the postcolonial world, according to the Oxford Dictionary. As we mentioned earlier about the application of feminism theory to literature, the provided definition of postcolonial feminism is also not applicable to the analysis of literature.
