    Whether you're a fan or not, science fiction and fantasy are, or have been, present in your life at some point. Gender has helped advance society in many ways. Science fiction and fantasy are for creative people. One cannot embrace wild and imaginative plots without the ability to think creatively. Sometimes the fantastical ideas presented in books and shows are absorbed by these creative and inventive minds and applied to the real world. Gene Roddenberry, the creator of Star Trek, once said: “For me, science fiction is a way of thinking, a way of logic that avoids a lot of absurdities. This allows people to directly address important topics. These genres are a way of looking at the world in a whole new light, exploring endless ideas about humanity and our society (and in some cases using otherworldly or mythical species to reflect on our own), ideas about what our future might look like, or what the past might have been. This could be a bright idea that humanity would overcome its selfishness and live in harmony in the future, but it could also be a kind of warning. Some books and films are set in a dark future where humanity has almost completely destroyed itself. Both methods can inspire the reader or viewer. Many ancient and medieval poetry and writings contain science fiction/fantasy elements, such as journeys to the stars or under the ocean. Mythology can even be considered a form of fantasy. Many ancient beliefs from different cultures featured fantastical creatures, places, and people with incredible magical powers. Gulliver's Travels, written in 1726 by Jonathan Swift, is considered one of the first true science fiction novels. It's a story of a man encountering all manner of strange and seemingly otherworldly... middle of paper... progressing towards material that will hopefully one day be as durable as the captain's shield. Science even created Batman's grappling gun! The Grappler is designed for use by the military and can be extremely useful in rescue missions. It can even work underwater! As our world advances so rapidly in science and technology, it's fascinating to look back at the literature that inspired these advances. It's strange that this genre, filled with such outlandish plots and characters, can influence the real world. In a way, it's beautiful. When these brilliant minds of humanity are able to take an idea from the fictional world and work together to make it a reality. For hundreds of years, people have dreamed of what they thought was impossible, but to quote Star Trek: "Things aren't impossible until they're achievable." »..”
