Jean Watson is a highly respected American nurse theorist who created the theory of human nursing. From my point of view, his concept of caring for a human being is simple, but has a lot of depth and meaning. I believe I became a nurse because I have the ability to care for another human being in an organic way that comes straight from my heart. As I study Jean Watson's theory in more detail, I see that parts of her theory can improve my nursing practice. I strive to continue to learn and grow on a personal and professional level every day. I also find that I have incorporated some of his theory into the care of my patients that I have had in the past. There are countless number of nurses, but not all of them truly represent the importance of being able to care for another human being because it is an honor. Jean Watson's theory of caring is based on the fact that nurses must work with compassion, wisdom, love and kindness. Watson's theory is based on the foundation of caregiving, the essential elements of which are: values, faith-hope, sensitivity, trust, feelings, decision-making, teaching-learning, environment and human needs. If one is able to introduce this theory into their life, they might discover that it has the power to improve themselves professionally and personally. Jean Watson's Nursing Theory of Human Caring Theory/Caring Science has multiple aspects. In accordance with Watson's theory, values begin to develop at a young age and depend on how an individual is raised by their parents. As one grows older and experiences life, it builds the value of an individual. As a nurse matures in their profession, they develop selfless and humanistic behaviors towards other human beings, this is a strong value that a nurse must possess. The theory is broad and is based on nine concepts all interrelated and primarily focused on a nurse providing care to a patient with compassion, wisdom, love and kindness. The nine essential aspects are: values, faith-hope, sensitivity, trust, feelings, decision-making, teaching-learning, environment and human needs. A nurse will discover that if this theory is applied to her own healthcare practice, surprising and unexplainable things could happen one day during her shift. I found that I saw amazing things happen when I worked as a nurse, being able to see a sick person in despair, getting better over time, making me smile, warming my heart and making me happy. tears in my eyes.
