"Every second of every day you are faced with a decision that can change your life. The difference between life or death can be decided in a fraction of a second" (IMDb). Run Lola Run is an excellent 80 minute German film written/directed by Tom Tykwer and edited by Mathilde Bonnefoy that has a sort of "What if" style in four parts. The film pulses with kinetic energy mixed with a case of Monster Energy Drinks. The pace is so fast that it's like an unstable roller coaster with every twist and turn. Run Lola Run will captivate your mind and spirit with magnificent, free-spirited flashes of anticipation, panic, passion, despair, hesitation, fear and fervor which, when combined, are quite invigorating and will significantly exhaust one's viewers. The formula that Mathilde Bonnefoy uses to manage the complex rhythms of this film not only dazzles viewers with the pace, but also maintains a sharp focus on what Lola is doing and why she is doing it. Among other things, editing is what determines the length of a shot. Thus, it fully controls the length of time one can look at each image and take in the information. In Run Lola Run, Mathilde Bonnefoy demonstrates that experimentation and editing do not necessarily have to be formal. She performs the traditional editor's duties of setting the length and frequency of shots, thereby controlling the film's focus on a person, place, or device with such a sense of pride that the film becomes more of a a question of editing than of the story itself. The opening sequence, for example, shows Lola (Franka Potente) receiving a phone call from her boyfriend, Manni (Moritz Bleibtreu), who asks her to help him in a dire situation, about the importance of returning $100,000 to the g.... .. middle of paper...... (Tykwer). In conclusion, Run Lola Run is an excellent film that incorporates phenomenal editing and music. If a viewer was not dazzled by this film, they would be very surprised because it is a very gripping and breathtaking film. The formula editor used by Mathilde Bonnefoy to manage the complex rhythms of this film will not only dazzle viewers with the pacing, but also maintain a sharp focus on what Lola is doing, why she is doing it, and what is happening that matters. in the film. .Works CitedIMDb.
