International Harvester has built many good tractors over the years. Today I'm going to talk about the Super M-TA. The Super M-TA was International Harvester's first tractor with electric power and other user-friendly features. Before talking about the tractor, I'll tell you a little about the history of International Harvester. International Harvester began as the McCormick Harvesting Machine Company in 1847, founded by Cyrus Hall McCormick and was consolidated by his son Cyrus Hall McCormick Jr. in 1902. About Farmall and IH, Burlington. McCormick's harvest was consolidated with Deering Harvester Company; Plano Manufacturing Company; Warder, Bushnell and Glessner Company; and Milwaukee Harvester Company. This became known as the International Harvester Company. About Farmall and IH, Burlington The International Harvester Company began experimenting with tractors in 1905. International Harvester's first tractor was the Mogul 8-16. (About Farmall and IH) The International Harvester Company then moved to the F Series until 1938. In 1939, the International Harvester Company paid Raymond Loewy to remodel the F Series. These tractors had more sheet metal, like the hood and the grille. These redesigned tractors became known as the Letter series. International Harvester manufactured the letter series until 1954. International also manufactured the "Super" tractors from 1952 to 1954. (Farmall letter series) This brings me to the Super M-TA which was manufactured from 1953 to 1954 Between the two years International Harvester manufactured the Super M-TA, they produced 26,924. The Super M-TA was International Harvester's first tractor to feature live horsepower. The lively power meant that you could depress the clutch on the tractor, the PTO or PTO wouldn't stop turning.
