  • Essay / The Importance of Digital Media - 713

For example, for the digital media major at the University of Houston, throughout their academic career, the student will be required to create a portfolio that will include all of their work from each class. This portfolio will be displayed on a web page to allow the student to display their work, not only for personal use, such as showing it to family or friends, but also to show it to an employer. A web page allows a designer to introduce themselves to anyone, and of course, having an account like Facebook or LinkedIn can do just that; but a person will not be able to see what the designer is capable of if their work is not displayed in a single space (Blankenspoor, 2014). By having all of their works on one web page, it allows the viewer to see what they have and maybe even see something that they will always remember and make them come back to that web page again and again. Ultimately, a web page can be used for many things, all of which are beneficial to a business, an art designer, and even ordinary people who shop online or communicate through the use of a web page. It has become easy to create a web page, for example using Adobe Muse, a person no longer needs to use HTML, CSS or any other coding language to create a web page even if they can always if she wants.
