Out of all the different types of music we studied, I would have to say that my favorite type of music would be mid to late 60s, 70s and 80s era. My favorite style of music would be rock&roll. To be more specific, I'm talking about some of the music we studied in units 12, 13 and 18 of our textbook. I love this style of music the most because it best represents who I am and what I like. The lyrics of the songs during this era were mostly fun and easy to understand compared to other earlier genres of music that seemed very dark, depressing, or difficult to understand or relate to. In my opinion, rock and roll is simply easier to understand. listen and dance, compared to other musical genres before the 1950s. This was mainly because the lyrics and music before the 1950s were simply boring and very difficult to dance to. I'm sure my opinion on this type of music before the 50's is simply based on my age and the era I grew up in. Rock and roll has a good rhythm and backbeat that sounds different from other previous music genres. . There is also the blues influence that I like. In my opinion, earlier music genres did not have the same type of rhythm, speed, syncopation or strong beat, riffs and hooks as rock & roll. I also love the vocal ranges of some rock & roll musicians and their ability to make them so unique. Since the early 60s, music in general sounded much better. Rock and roll at this time also became more rhythmically better. Personally, I always appreciated the different and unique instrument sounds that musicians in rock & roll bands could produce using the synthesizer, their electric guitars, etc. middle of paper......some of my favorites from this record. All of these songs on this album had all the rock & roll elements that I love. Their songs were also very danceable and fun to listen to. In conclusion, I must emphasize that it was very difficult for me to choose just one style of music or two groups. There are so many other styles of music that I love to listen to and many artists that I totally enjoy. I could probably write forever naming all the musicians and different styles of music that I enjoy. It was also quite difficult for me to explain rock & roll in particular, as it contains many elements of the different genres of some of the earlier music we have known. studied.
