Game consoles, computers, smartphones and more can serve as a server for online games. The online gaming world is literally a global community with millions of users and this term would be called massively multiplayer online gaming (MMO). In the United States alone, “an estimated 67% of American households play video games” (Hastings 2015). Networks such as PSN, Xbox Live, Steam and Second Life have millions of gamers, and through this virtual community many people can be influenced by other users. The online gaming community allows individuals to interact with various personalities. Although there is a history of addiction, violence, antisocialism and other negative factors, many researchers are studying the benefits of the Internet.
