A comparative analysis of political communication in TurkeyIn the case of Turkey, I will try to analyze the Turkish media system with the theoretical framework developed by Daniel C. Hallin. and Paolo Mancini in the Comparing Media Systems article, Three Models of Media and Politics. I will attempt to study the fundamental characteristics of media systems in Türkiye. Furthermore, I will analyze the relationship between the state and the media through four dimensions, namely the development of the mass press, political parallelism, journalistic professionalism and the role of the state, developed by the works of Hallin and Mancini (Hallin and Mancini, 2005: pp. 217-220). Hallin and Mancini's conceptual framework includes four-dimensional structures: the development of media markets, political parallelism or "the extent to which the media system reflects the main divisions of society", the development of journalistic professionalism, as well as the degree and nature of state intervention in the media system; in addition, certain aspects of the role of the State; degree of pluralism, type of democracy and degree of rational and legal authority in association with the political contexts of media systems. Hallin and Mancini conceptualized the three media and political models by referring to characteristic configurations within these dimensions. These are the Mediterranean or polarized pluralist model, the North Central European or democratic corporatist model, the North Atlantic or the liberal model. The main characteristics of the polarized Mediterranean or pluralist model are high political parallelism, low newspaper circulation, lower professionalization and strong state intervention; Central and Northern Europe or democratic corporatist model consists of a new middle of paper......
