For the past two centuries, the United States has dominated the world as the first industrialized nation. Citizens benefit from top-notch transportation, cutting-edge technology, reliable government, and access to numerous job opportunities. Even though the United States enjoys privileges envied around the world, the K-12 (K-12) school calendar remains stuck in the Stone Age. Composed at a time when children were relied upon to work on family farms during the long summer months, the traditional school calendar served a purpose. However, lifestyles have changed radically since the beginning of the development of these countries, and it is only rational to adopt a school schedule adapted to the times. Despite being called a land of opportunity, American education today faces growing limitations. Due to the economic downturn, education funding is being cut across the country. At the same time, schools suffer from overcrowding and academic achievement falls below global standards. It is time to address existing issues within the education system to promote future success. A good starting point is to implement a year-round education system that reduces summer vacations to allow for shorter, more frequent breaks throughout the school year. Although parents and administrators are reluctant to abandon the tradition of the existing K-12 school calendar, year-round education is expected to be implemented across the United States due to many advantages it offers to today's students. the school schedule is detrimental to student learning.
