Dr. Maria Montessori is a pioneer in developing a philosophy of learning and teaching that could be described as revolutionary. At a time when accepted traditional teaching methods were geared more toward adults, the Montessori method focused on child-directed learning. Maria believed that there were multiple paths to learning and that with hands-on learning, the child could be the creator of their own education. She believed that there is a connection between a child's emotional development and their ability to learn. She believed that a child's first six years contribute significantly to the child's cognitive development and that there is infinite potential in every child, regardless of the diversity of their cultural, socio-economic and social backgrounds. -emotional.
