    This thematic study aims to explain the importance of ethical business practices which also include social responsibilities and will be compared with an example of unethical business practice . It will explore the various unethical issues in business, the benefits of running an ethical business and this will be done with reference to a certain case study. Ethics are moral guidelines that govern proper behavior. For a company to behave ethically, it must follow strict guidelines that ensure the health, safety and human rights of every employee of that company. Unfortunately, there are many cases in which some companies fail to follow any ethical guidelines and can often result in the illness and/or death of some or all employees. One of the unethical issues that will be the focus of this study is gender discrimination. .Employees are protected against all kinds of discrimination, including discrimination based on age, disability, race and sex, at all stages of employment, including employment, dismissal and all stages intermediaries. Sex discrimination is discrimination against people based on sex and gender. can affect their employment, salary or opportunities within the company and mainly affects women. Gender discrimination can include: • not hiring a woman because the employer believes she will not fulfill the traditional role of a man in the workplace • offering women lower pay levels and certain benefits different from those offered to men • not promoting women to a higher position because she is a woman and her employer believes that other staff members will not respect her level of authority • initializing that women in the workplace wear a different type of uniform • and simply not considering women for particular roles T...... middle of paper ...... recruiting and retaining employees and this facilitates access to capital. This could put the company at a disadvantage by increasing the cost of production and loss of revenue, but it would allow Wal-Mart to continue operating ethically. Ultimately, ethics is of great importance within a business because it determines the long-term success of the business.
