Communication Problems for ResearchersA scientific researcher faces many obstacles when attempting to conduct a research project. The researcher's inability to clearly communicate what they are trying to do can lead to difficulties throughout the process. Grant applications to fund projects and scientific articles to document the results are often as important as the work itself. In addition to written documentation and standard applications, a researcher will develop oral presentations for various stakeholders as part of the process. PowerPoint slideshows and scientific posters will also be developed to support discussion with visual media. This article will address some of the issues researchers face in successfully communicating their work to their audiences – collaborative groups of research team members, funding source administrators, institutional leadership and support, fellow researchers in their respective fields, general public and more. communication, miscommunication or poor communication will negatively affect the research effort as a whole and will have a consequent impact on the health of our global society. Poor communication on the part of researchers is relevant and deserves to be addressed. Define researcher communication problems. Rubenson (2013) highlights several issues leading to communication failures, including lack of preparation on the part of overly committed researchers, the massive growth of the biomedical research enterprise, pressure to produce multiple publications, and created vocabularies by a highly specialized language among the sub-disciplines. In one of his examples of peer communication problems, Rubenson points out poorly prepared slides and rushed presentations by researchers that only they can understand...... middle of article ...... taken from http://www .the-scientist.com/?articles.view/articleNo/34196/title/Opinion--Communication-Crisis-in-Research/Sample, Ian.
