  • Essay / Analysis of Five Essential Truths by Richard Rohr

This fourth essential truth could have two possible meanings, I ponder. I could consider, on the one hand, that we are not always masters of ourselves and, on the other hand, that no one and nothing controls us either. Besides, I agree with him if this line is related to what I just wrote. In life, there are certain situations that can make us consider that we lose what we call “control” in these sudden situations. A small complication could make us react strangely even without analyzing it. Also, if it refers to no one controlling us, it is also true because a person might assume "I control the world" or "a country", but thoughts, feelings or ideas are not under no one's control, just under God's control. Plus, “You’re going to die” is the final truth. People should know that we all die once. It is not fundamental to delve deeper into this truth, because it is something that we all possess with certainty. An awesome truth is the fact that we do not realize that we are not alive forever and this causes problems because people cultivate less good feelings and tend to hurt others. We die once, so we must always remember that. If we can do this, we will enjoy each day more as if it were the last of our lives. In this way, we will do good to others. Richard Rohr wrote five essential truths that if we take a few minutes to analyze, we will notice their reality with us. We are just one person with many things of value to offer and with one life to live with others. Every day is just a miracle and we should make the most of it
