“Some people tried to harm us to protect themselves, their families and their communities... It was one of the consequences of the civil war. People stopped trusting each other and every stranger became an enemy. Even people who knew you became extremely cautious about how they spoke to you or spoke to you. To survive, people are known to go to great lengths and do things they normally wouldn't do. Today I'm going to show you some examples of what people will do when faced with life or death situations to survive. One example comes from the book Lord of the Flies by William Golding, which is about young boys stranded on an island just trying to survive. The second example to consider is Danny Boyle's 127 Hours, a true story about a hiker who finds himself stuck between a rock after slipping and falling into a canyon and must make drastic decisions to survive. The final example is how a young boy transformed by the war in his country is pushed to extremes to survive in the book A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah. His mind was filled with memories; the memories of the knowledge they had gained when they had approached the struggling pig, the knowledge that they had outwitted a living being, had imposed their will on it, had taken its life away like a long, satisfying drink. This is what the boys became after being forced to support themselves and live off the land. It's been weeks since the boys were shot and crushed on this island. They had to kill animals and search for firewood, all while trying to work together. They lost boys in the jungle, some were killed in battle while others just couldn't bear to live like this. All sense of democracy is gone... middle of paper ... eat death. He was forced to lie, steal, and even kill other people, which was his only means of survival. There came a time when he even got lost and only knew combat and violence, he didn't want to change. Until he was rescued by a group of people from UNICEF and slowly returned to a normal lifestyle. But the fact is he survived, he was pushed far beyond his limits, but he was able to try hard and adapt to survive. In conclusion, people will go to great lengths and do things they wouldn't do. do normally to survive. We have seen it countless times in the desert and in places of war and famine. The important thing to remember is to never lose hope because you can get out of this situation. So I leave you with a question… How far would you go to survive a life or death situation? ??
