My Chemical Romance is a pop/punk band. However, we wonder what kind of music it really belongs to. Some say it belongs to the “emo” genre, others say “pop”. No matter what genre of music they actually belong to, My Chemical Romance has certainly changed the lives of everyone who listens to them. From their debut album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me YourLove, to their latest, May Death Never Stop You, fans around the world have supported them throughout their 12 years of music. It all started when singer Gerard Way was doing entertainment in New York. Suddenly, he began to rethink his life and the direction he wanted to take. His high school friends had graduated from high school and spread out to decide where to go in life, with some still going to school. Way called his friend Matt, who was wondering the same questions, and they decided to get together and play some music. Matt quickly became the drummer and together they began writing songs. Both Way and Pelissier felt good about the song, and Way asked guitarist RayToto if he would be interested in working with them. My Chemical Romance's five-member lineup was complete when Way, Pelissier and Toto joined forces with bassist Mikey Way (Gerard Way's brother) and guitarist Frank Iero. With this lineup in place, the band began playing all over the Northeast Corridor and planned to begin work on their debut album.
