Essay / Climate change: global threats and impacts? - 1396
One of the opposing arguments presented is the lack of global warming over the decade, and the Earth warming data was the result of computer models exaggerating the effects of dioxide of carbon. Although data has shown that the Earth's surface has been warming since 1979, these long-term temperature results came from surface weather stations located in urban centers measuring the "urban heat island effect." This data would then have large errors between the two. Although computer models are used as major components in forecasting the influences of climate change, they cannot generate all the processes involved and are therefore not reliable resources that can be relied upon. Some have even claimed that a large amount of carbon dioxide would not harm the Earth or living species, since it is a colorless and odorless gas that constitutes the bulk of the living cycle. While the concentration of carbon dioxide contributed to better plant growth, animals also had better growth. Therefore, carbon dioxide is not considered a pollutant because it is beneficial and a key element for the Earth. Instead, they believed that water vapor, the most important greenhouse gas in the atmosphere, might be responsible for about 98 percent of the warming process. Also,
