TestimonyWhen we meet a Holocaust survivor, many questions come to our minds. We begin to wonder how they managed to survive. We tend to assume that once the Holocaust ended, survivors began to rebuild their lives and their pain disappeared. However, Holocaust survivors suffered, and even 70 years after liberation, they still face daily challenges. In the years following the Holocaust, they struggled with painful memories while trying to reconnect with their lives, many in new countries. The Holocaust was one of the greatest massacres against humanity. Over time, Holocaust survivors' memories begin to fade. The obligation to remember is engraved on every Holocaust memorial, but even the words “Never forget” eventually become tired. Fearing that future generations will forget the Holocaust, these survivors bear witness to it in several ways. One of the ways that Holocaust survivors bore witness was through literature and education. There have been literally thousands of books written about experiences of the Holocaust, many by eyewitnesses and victims. Almost all literature about the Holocaust is moving and important, because the Holocaust is one of the major and definitive experiences in world history. Of all the works on the Holocaust, those of Primo Levi, an Italian Jew who survived the Holocaust, are among the most powerful. Primo Levi was born in Turin on July 13, 1919; he committed suicide, also in Turin, on April 11, 1987. The experiences of Jews in Fascist Italy were not immediately comparable to those in Nazi Germany. Levi suffered from anti-Semitism at school, but again, that's nothing compared to Nazi Germany. He was made fun of at school...... middle of paper ....... As mentioned earlier, it was not as easy as it seems to talk about the 'Holocaust. Some Holocaust survivors recalled silence until other Holocaust survivors began sharing their stories. In conclusion, the Holocaust was a period that marked our world history. This is an example of something the world allowed to happen. Although the entire world knew about the Holocaust, it did not stop other nations from committing genocides. The Holocaust should serve as an example so that the whole world can unite and fight against these evil governments that try to take advantage of innocent people. However, history is in the past, which is why Holocaust survivors have left their mark on history so that we can always remember the Holocaust. Only a few remembered survivors are still alive in today's society, so it is important that a way to keep their memory alive..
