Article.Biography in Context, in the article "John Fitzgerald Kennedy" states that JFK's legacy is one of the most important and memorable legacies in the history of United States presidents. In their article, they use quotes from historians and others who observed JFK and his family to highlight the impact of JFK's presidency and the Kennedy family. For example, they cite historian Doris Kearns Goodwin who asserts that "no American family had a more vivid and powerful impact on the life of its time" (Biography in Context 94). Franklin Roosevelt, in his Pearl Harbor speech, calls on Congress to declare war on Japan. In his speech he talks about the recent meeting between the United States and Japan, during which an alliance and peace in the Atlantic were suggested. Due to several factors that played into the attack on Pearl Harbor, the president stated that the attack was "deliberately planned days or even weeks [ago]" (Roosevelt 1941). He makes these facts obvious to those listening to the speech in order to arouse a feeling of betrayal on Japan's part, so that they agree to declare war.
