Essay / How Religion Influences Society - 1013
Ministers are the most ideal conduits due to their extensive training in morality and humility. They are prepared to play their role in disseminating knowledge and are well protected against the dangers of abuse of power. In the past, religious leaders have “exercised the strongest possible influence on civilization” (Freud, 1989). Many succumbed to power and their actions forever mutilated the reputation and authenticity of the religion. Due to the past indiscretions of former religious leaders, ministers hold less power and influence and can now only positively influence society.
