In my essay, I have given a detailed definition of trade policy and its various aspects; discussed inward- and outward-looking trade policies and how these are implemented by governments around the world; said that, in my view, outward orientation is the most effective role government can play in trade policy. Going forward, I recommend that governments around the world adopt an extremely open policy. Specifically, I believe the New Zealand Government should continue to negotiate as many free trade agreements as possible, as well as continue to actively work with the World Trade Organization, to help create an open and free.
