No one today considers women as someone to be looked down upon. Women have earned their place in the world. Thanks to the women of our past, we, the future, have the power to control our lives. Alice Walker's book, The Color Purple, really drives home to the reader that no one should take for granted what comes easily to our minds. Yesterday, this is something they fought for. Walker uses the main character Celie as an example of someone who fought for her life. Walker portrays Celie as a woman at the time who has absolutely nothing, no rights.
