The LifeLine community health program provided loans to Ruth and Tage to expand their clinic and promote health services. The main goals of this program were to teach people how to prevent disease, maintain a healthy diet and good hygiene, treat common illnesses, and help women start a small business to support their children's education. Families with extremely low incomes were able to benefit from reduced rates for health services. This ensures that women and children have adequate access to healthcare, which is an important aspect of empowering the next generation. The partnership with LifeLine Network has provided Ruth and her family with important resources to reduce maternal and child health in the community and take a step closer to achieving the fifth Millennium Development Goal. Although this program has significantly reduced maternal and child mortality, further developments and solutions are needed in order to promote good health for the entire society and improve the socio-economic status of the population..
