Essay / My Future Teacher Essay - 779
In the first chapter, I like how the book explains how to assess by asking questions, but doesn't overwhelm students with questions. The teacher should observe the students and see how they act and talk with other students, which is what the teacher in the first chapter does. The four-box assessment is a good idea that the teacher uses in the first chapter. I like how the four-box assessment is divided into categories such as listening, speaking and writing, so the teacher can write down what needs improvement and what the student excels. The four-box assessment will help students complete their homework and grade their assignments. Student assessment is necessary for the teacher because it allows him to know where the students stand academically. Additionally, with assessment, I think discussing academic goals with ELLs and rewarding them when they achieve their goals could be effective, which also shows English language learners that you care and want to let them do it.
