    Similar to “Idiocray,” Chayefsky prophesies a world in which the public responds only to anger, violence, and gadgets. A world where the only things media companies are accountable to are audiences and bottom lines. A journalist like Howard Beale who let the public know what he thought, what he felt, and told them what they should feel and why they should be outraged. Chayefsky's prediction about the angry reporter who not only reports the news, but preaches the news and what he thinks about it, and how his viewers should feel about it, was perfect. Outrage is burning in the media with several famous personalities professionally outraged like Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Chris Matthews, Bill O'Reilly and many others. Many of these angry professional television personalities exist because people like them and watch them more than the more measured, if less entertaining, news anchors.
