Essay / The Life of Pi Reflection - 1083
The Life of Pi by Yann Martel was a fascinating and exciting tale that described the journey of a young boy's life, beginning with the formation of his beliefs and progressing through an adventure who changed his life forever. I found it extremely engaging both philosophically and psychologically to see Pi, a young boy curious about life, discover religion and go through an extremely traumatic experience. I found Pi's devotion to God to be an uplifting example that many people around the world should see. Although I believe Pi did not know how best to love God, I admire his efforts and believe his dedication is sincere. I also found the psychological aspect of Pi almost as fascinating as the religion. I could see from the beginning that Pi was very thoughtful and always tried to think before he acted. However, what I found even more fascinating than his cognitive pre-planning abilities was the way he thought when under great stress. Perhaps the best example of how he coped with stress is near the end of the book, when he tells what might be the true story, and we can see that he may have represented everything the world like an animal in order to cope with the situation. This provides valuable insight into Pi's mind and opens up a whole new realm of possibilities when it comes to how Pi thinks. This ending leaves Pi's way of thinking open to interpretation, which adds an intriguing aspect to the book. Beyond the religious and theoretical aspects of the book, the adventure seen kept me in suspense until the very end. Every time it seemed like Pi was about to die or lose hope, an amazing miracle would suddenly save him. I found that the effect of these moments of suspense made me want to...... middle of paper ...... but how did I compare to this book. I am a very religious person, just like Pi. I am very protective of others, much like the tiger. I feel like I connect extremely well with these characters. Pi's devotion to God has reignited some of what I thought I was losing. I felt like I was losing faith. I'm going through one of the hardest years of my life, but it doesn't even compare to what Pi went through. However, Pi's faith remains unwavering. For me, it was a great example that allowed me to realize that I must put my trust in God. This is one of the most profound realizations I've had in a long time, and I hope I can carry this example with me for the rest of my life. The Life of Pi was an amazing book that various people can connect to. This will provoke profound insights that will allow one to look more deeply into the world and into their own soul..
