"Night Prowler" is a song released in 1979 on the AC-DC album entitled "Highway to Hell". It wasn't until June 28, 1984 that this song would begin to acquire its association with a serial killer. This murderer, rapist and burglar was born Ricardo Leyva Ramirez. He was commonly called Richard. However, in May 1985, he was immortalized in the media as "The Night Stalker." The nighttime rampage began in June 1984. While sleeping in bed, Jennie Vincow was awakened by repeated blows to the chest. this shadow of the night cut her throat and almost decapitated her as the final blow. However, the nightmare only ended when Ramirez had sex with the seventy-nine-year-old's lifeless body. It would be almost nine more months before Richard struck again. In March 1985, Angela Barrio, 22, was thrown from her apartment. He shot and, to her knowledge, killed her, then went in and killed Dayle Okazaki. Angela survived because the bullet fired by Richard bounced off the keys in her hand. About an hour later, in Monterey Park, another woman was shot by Richard. Thirty-year-old Tsai-Lian Yu was forcibly taken from her car and shot dead. She died before help arrived. Ten days later he struck again. His victims were Vincent and Maxine Zazzarra. He quickly killed the man, Vincent, Richard stabbed Maxine several times, carved a "T" into her left breast and gouged out her eyes. Most of these were post-mortem mutilations. He left footprints and bullets that matched previous murders and that's when it was recognized that there was a serial killer on the loose.
