This perspective is something we should model when trying to fix our own system. It's clear that expanding access to medical care is a common goal of U.S. government politicians. We must therefore look beyond our partisan convictions to cooperate and propose reforms to our health system. By viewing medical care as a right, we will view health care not as a means to defend our own political beliefs, but as a means to provide medical care to all. Furthermore, we must look beyond our own desires and see what is best for the majority, as Singaporeans do. Much of the public outcry against reform is because people don't want to see their own taxes or health care prices rise. For example, some opponents of Obamacare fear that the individual mandate will force them to pay fees, which in reality are just appearances if they can afford a health care plan but don't want to buy one. .
