  • Essay / An Argument for the Existence of God - 2339

An Argument for the Existence of GodGod can be defined as a being conceived as the perfect, omnipotent and omniscient creator and ruler of the universe, the main object of faith and worship in monotheistic religions (1). There are many people who do not believe in any religion. People who don't believe in a religion have no reason to believe in God. People who don't believe in God and argue against the existence of God are proving something completely wrong. There is a God for many reasons. The purpose of this article is to prove the existence of God. There are ten main reasons presented in this article that show the reality of God. It also shows counterarguments to competing positions (the presence of evil). It also gives anticipatory responses to possible objections to the thesis. The first reason focuses on belief in faith. The following passage is taken from the Bible. This has excellent meaning because it shows that everyone has faith. Having faith is the first sign that everyone believes in a religion. There are two good definitions of religion. The first is the belief in and respect for one or more supernatural powers considered to be creators and governors of the universe. The second is a personal or institutionalized system based on such belief and worship. The passage shows that everyone has an institutionalized system that has belief. The passage is: “Everyone believes in something. No one can bear the stress and worries of life without faith in God. Atheists cannot prove that God does not exist. Pantheists cannot prove that everything is God. Pragmatists cannot prove that what will matter to them in the future is what works for them today. Nor can agnostics prove that it is impossible to know one way or the other. Faith is inevitable, even if we choose to believe only in ourselves. What remains to be decided is what evidence we think is relevant, how we will interpret that evidence, and who or what we are prepared to believe. (Luke 16:16)(4) This passage is excellent proof that there is a God. This shows that everyone has faith. Faith is an important aspect of religion. In every religion there is probably only one holy being, a god. Many atheists have used science to disapprove of the existence of God. Science is not a precise way to disapprove of the existence of God(2). Scientist... middle of paper ... This is completely false because God made the ultimate sacrifice. Jesus sacrificed himself so that he could redeem humanity and have all their sins forgiven. Making such a sacrifice is good proof that God cares about humanity. The final reason that proves the existence of God is the way we look at God. Most of humanity believes that God should look to humanity, when in reality we should look to God. The best argument atheists have to disapprove of the existence of God is the presence of evil. But their argument is stopped by the Augustinian theodicy. These reasons are excellent proof of the existence of God. Any atheist who reads the ten reasons and the Augustinian theodicy can never disapprove of the existence of God.Bibliography1) Oxford Readings in Philosophy. The concept of God.
