Essay / The Computer: The Brain of the Computer - 732
No one can pinpoint precisely when the first computer was invented, but its ascendancy can be traced to the late 1800s and early 1900s. The first programmable computer was created in 1938 by a German named Konrad Zuse (quote). The name of the computer was V1, which stands for Versuchs model l – experimental model. The name was later changed to Z1 so that it would not be interpreted as being associated with military rockets (quote). The Z1 weighed 1,000 kg or 2,204 pounds. Compare the Z1 to today's technology where we have phones that weigh less than a pound and are thousands of times more powerful. The Z1 can only perform simple math operations, whereas a smartphone is capable of calculating advanced trigonometric equations, connecting to anyone in the world, and even playing games. What was once considered impossible is now everyday life for people living in the 21st century.
