It simply must be done. Teachers should be able to come to work every day knowing they are using up-to-date materials, resources, and teaching practices. The curriculum department made critical scheduling errors and cost the district in many ways. Rebuilding trust and a sense of support is also necessary for this reframing process. The two main factors for this type of change are time and money. The money was committed by the board of directors. They have put in place additional human resources and are expecting results. They approved additional funding over the next four years for more staff and new resources. The time that teachers and others will have to devote to the process must be valued and structured. You need short-term victories and you need to see the big picture. Ultimately, this process could take up to three years or be completed in 18 months. The longer it takes, the more we will need to remind everyone of “why” we need to make this change. If the curriculum department can guide the district through the process, building on the vision of high-quality education, reframing will be a positive experience. There will always be pressure to improve standardized scores and overall student success. The district will be in a better position to support students with better informed and aligned teachers
