  • Essay / Charles Dickens Character Analysis Essay - 1987

The two most important characters for me who have interesting backgrounds are Doctor Manette and Lucie Manette. Doctor Manette and Lucie Manette are father and daughter who were separated when Lucie was little due to her unjust imprisonment. At the age of seventeen, the long-lost relationship was repaired when Doctor Manette was released from La Bastille prison in France with the help of Jarvis Lorry, a businessman. Doctor Manette is a heroic character in the story's plot who demonstrates strength. Doctor Manette is a character who suffers greatly through conflicts, but he finds ways to overcome them. One such conflict that marked his life was when he was separated from his daughter for eighteen years due to unjust imprisonment, causing him mental trauma. Once released, Doctor Manette becomes a healthier and more outgoing person in England with the help of Lucie.
