Students deserve the chance to use art as a tool, develop important 21st century skills, find themselves, realize the power of collaboration and realize this several times. there is more than one correct answer. I believe that educators must put themselves in their students' shoes to try to understand what concerns them. I believe we should surround our projects with understanding the answers to the following questions. What challenges do my students face? What do they need to know to succeed? What skills will they use beyond school? What impact will this program/lesson have on the student’s life? These questions may seem outlandish, but I believe they bring educators to the reality of what is truly important to students.
