  • Essay / Motivation and Motivation - 782

Motivation is very much involved in behaviorism since, based on the behavioral approaches of Watson, Pavlov and Skinner, an understanding of learner motivation begins with incentives and rewards. Receiving a reward is an important stimulus resulting from behavior (Woolfolk et al. 2013). Furthermore, Dan Pink (2009) identified that companies offer rewards in order to stimulate business, which actually improves efficiency, but they focus too much on rewards that make the right brain work, which reduces left brain creativity. Thus, extrinsic motivation limits learners' creativity, which could lead them to strive for high grades in exams and lose the purpose of their work.
