    Addicts lie and steal from their families, lose their jobs, and do not lead stable lives. Prescription drug and marijuana abuse is one of the biggest concerns in the United States, especially among young people, as drugs cause problems between families, money, and more. Drug addicts find ways to create different drugs. This makes drug abuse difficult to control and ultimately change. Moreover, addiction is not only a physical dependence, but also a mental one. Drug abuse has various causes, effects and treatments. Based on the pamphlet “Another Look,” published by Narcotics Anonymous World Services, Inc., it says: “If we can find greater agreement on what addiction is, then perhaps what it is could appear with more clarity” (3). If people could see drug addiction for what it truly is, a disease, then the addict's family and friends would better understand that addicts do not choose to become addicted to drugs. Addiction is a routine of compulsive behavior (3). Additionally, recovering drug addicts feel very limited in terms of freedom because they are afraid of going back to abusing drugs, but at the same time want to be free to do whatever they want (3). Addicts need to control everything because they fear that there are obstacles in life that they may not be able to overcome (3). If addicts can find ways to solve their problems, they may not use drugs to escape reality. There are many ways for addicts to cope with life, such as counseling, drug treatment centers, support from family and friends. Among the various possible causes of drug abuse, peer pressure is one of the main reasons why young people indulge in recreational drugs. In fact, some doctors, such as dentists and family doctors, overprescribe medications and take no responsibility if a patient becomes addicted to a drug (2).
