The film Molière is a period drama with a touch of comedy. It was released in 2007 and was written by Laurent Tirard and Grégoire Vigneron. The director of the film was also Laurent Tirard. The setting of the film is very faithful to its location since the filming was carried out in France itself in Yvelines, Sarthe, Yonne, Oise and Paris. The different castles used for Mr. Jourdain were very bright, flashy and unique unlike the 17th century estate which is duller and darker in color. The furniture and accessories used were modern reproductions and do not look like antiques or what they would have in that era. The costumes used for the film are not from the 17th century because the actors wear brighter colored dresses and lighter fabrics than those in the film. richly embroidered and trimmed clothing, as well as highly accented clothing that was used by people in the 17th century. The men in the film also lack emphasis in the lower portions of their costumes, unlike 17th century men who wear more detailed pants and socks with intricate and heavy embroidery. Additionally, the shoes of Jean-Baptiste Poquelin or more commonly known as Molière, in which actor Romain Duris played, were plain and simple compared to the more complicated heeled boots used by men of this century.
